One of the main attraction that Sanxenxo offers to the visitors is nautical tourism. Sanxenxo is perfect to practise nautical sports because of the soft climate during all the year and the wide sandbanks there are in the municipality.

Sanxenxo offers tourist the chance to do all kinds of nautical sports such as light sail or cruise. Catamaran routes, surf, canoening, aquatic skii, kayak, scuba diving around Islas Atlánticas National Park, etc.

Few places in the spanish coast you can find the same conditions as Ría de Pontevedra offers to do nautical sports. For this reason, Sanxenxo holds important regatta races such as “Trofeo Presidente de la Xunta”. His Majesty the King Juan Carlos I, who is usually participate in that race on Bribón sailboat, has praised in different occasions the good conditions that Sanxenxo offers for sailing.

Sanxenxo has been selected in some occasions by profesional Racing teams as the prestigious German Illbruck, Volvo Ocean cup winner, that chose this water due to the variety of winds and excellent sailing conditions during the year. Sanxenxo is currently the oceanic base of the Volvo Ocean Race.

So Sanxenxo has one of the most importan sports marina in the península after the renovation and expansión of facilities. The new marina has 400 moorings, some of them with double finger and services as water, electricity and the biggest travelift in Galicia (75 tones), a big commercial area with restaurants, shops, nautical equipments, covered car park crowned by an open pedestrian space of more than 8.000 square metres.
